Murals are pretty cool

Kaoru Aoki made a very nice job of the “Happy Go Lucky English” building signage. There was quite a large space to fill. So, with his imagination, artistic skill and determination, voila! he produced something rather unique.

Murals are not new to me.

New Zealand has a Mural town, Katikati, situated on the east coast of the North Island, about 150 kilometers south of Auckland. On State Highway 2, it services primarily the surrounding horticulture industry (kiwifruit, citrus fruit, avocado orchards). Importantly for local businesses, it is also a service stop for tourists traveling along this coastal route.

As traffic flow increased and heavy trucks rumbled through town so too did personal risk, noise and pollution.  A bypass was developed around the town however it had a dramatic effect on business profitability. Few travelers bothered to take a comfort stop. (more…)

John’s English Conversation and Games Room is opening. Many requests and much encouragement came from Koniya people. Gaining confidence in speaking English is the key objective. The room has now been adapted so we can learn Happy Go Lucky English  through conversation and games. English books, for beginners to advanced learners, are in the library for your use.

This is my first blog, so I want to say welcome to Happy Go Lucky English and hope I can give you a little encouragement to take on an “I can do it” attitude.

I’ve chosen an idiom “Shoot for the stars” It means to set one’s goals or ambitions very high; to try to attain or achieve something particularly difficult; to step outside your comfort zone. It just takes one step and you are on your journey. (more…)
